IT WAS all eyes on these campaigners as they protested against the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) on Thursday.
Oxford-based group We Own It, which looks at national issues surrounding public services, chose the striking imagery as they held a demonstration against the proposed TTIP.
Critics believe it could lead to private businesses being too heavily involved in public services.
Those for it say it will make trade between the two bodies easier by cutting red tape. Director of We Own It, Cat Hobbs, said: “The idea is that it would open up new markets to private companies and the reality here is that it’s going to open up public services to private companies.
“Multi-national corporations’ rights will become more important than ours.”
The Cowley resident added that she feared the treaty would allow private companies more of a role in services, such as the NHS, that she felt should remain public.
The demo took place outside a meeting at Oxford Science Park discussing possible treaty implications on the life sciences industry.
