A TEENAGER was stabbed in a park in Didcot on Sunday night.

Officers cordoned off the crime scene in Great Western Park after an 18-year-old man was attacked, and were seen searching the area with forensics and sniffer dogs.

Police were called to the park - bordered by Blackthorn Road, Yewtree Crescent and Juniper Way - at about 8pm. 

The victim was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with non life-threatening injuries, where he remains in a stable condition.

It is the second Oxfordshire stabbing involving a teenage victim in the space of just three days, though there is no suggestion the two incidents are linked.

On Thursday night a 17-year-old was taken to hospital in a serious condition, after being stabbed during a fight in Summertown, Oxford. 

Residents noticed a major police presence in Blackthorn Road from about 10.30pm on Sunday and officers were still guarding the area on Monday morning.

Several neighbours told the Oxford Mail they saw sniffer dogs and forensics entering the taped-off area, which is a small park behind Stephen Freeman Community Primary School.

Residents said they were told nothing by police about the nature of the incident.

One resident, who asked not to be named, said her family 'heard a commotion' outside at about 10.30pm. 

She said officers were still at the scene this morning, when she left the house at 7am.
