ON Wednesday April 22, the Oxford Mail published an article advocating an “independent and cost effective” NHS.
Historically, it makes good points on the formation of our health service.
Apparently, Dawn Griffis has been tainted by her time working in the US health insurance system – made worse by Obama’s administration. It is probably the worst system in the “developed” world and whilst a clear majority favour a “single-payer” system apart from a few “independent” unions, local campaigns similar to Keep Our NHS Public and tiny political groups like Against the Current actively promote it.
The US system wastes more money than their notorious military-industrial complex.
With the probable of exception of Cuba and previously Sweden, our National Health Service was the best in the world. According to some statistics, it’s now one of the worst in Europe.
Despite the understandable intentions of the National Health Action Party, the only party that stood in the election that can help us save it is the Green Party.
Like the Labour Party, Dawn Griffis raises a few good ideas but remains part of the democratic deficit.
