WELL at last someone has seen sense and realised that the people of Blackbird Leys were telling the truth when they said the structure that was being delivered i.e. the new state of the art swimming pool was not suitable for the needs of the users.

Does that mean the Oxford City swimming club will not be using the venue?

If so, where will they be holding their galas as the Temple Cowley pool – which they currently use – will have gone to housing thanks to the city council giving permission to demolish the structure which so many locals have campaigned about.

What was wrong with giving it back to the consortium to develop, retaining the swimming pool?

Surely it was a win/win situation?

Today’s letters

The residents are happy the council is receiving rent and should the worse case happen where it fails then the council can claim it back and then sell it off to their chosen developer.

As a resident of Pegasus Road I have watched with disgust as the venue is being constructed and bemoaned the council’s decision to destroy the green space.

Now to what end is this another council decision that has gone wrong just like the Port Meadow debacle?

And if so will they demolish this structure, of which they do have control over, and return our green space or will it become the white elephant of which I warned them about? Or perhaps it is just another hole they have dug for themselves but this one they filled with water?
