Vow of silence
3:39pm Friday 4th July 2008
In reply to Stan Francis's letter, Majority ignored (Oxford Mail, June 27), surely it is not only Tories and their supporters who are withholding comment about the hunting ban, but hunters and their supine followers in general?

Labour record
3:37pm Friday 4th July 2008
I agree with some of Bill Yates's comments about the Labour Government's record (Oxford Mail, June 26).

Build near London
3:36pm Friday 4th July 2008
When one considers that hundreds of people travel to and from their work in London every day, by both road and rail, it seems obvious that house building should be concentrated in or near London, not in inappropriate places in the countryside.

Name and shame attack youths
3:34pm Friday 4th July 2008
So two 17-year-olds have been found guilty of grievous bodily harm on an airman after they left him unconscious and with a badly broken ankle, requiring seven screws and a metal plate in his leg (Oxford Mail, July 1).

Animal liberty
12:48pm Thursday 3rd July 2008

I wrote criticising the state of Marston Ferry Road, Oxford, after the grass had been cut (Oxford Mail, June 26).

Let's celebrate NHS successes
12:44pm Thursday 3rd July 2008
It is good to know that Oxford will have some celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the NHS, and that the Lord Mayor, Susanna Pressel, will launch a book, to be available at the Town Hall tomorrow for several weeks, for people to insert their good experiences of the health service.

Manic impersonator
6:56pm Wednesday 2nd July 2008
If William Cowan sincerely believes that he and all Christians await the second coming of Christ to rule over us (Oxford Mail, June 26), then they are in for a massive disappointment.

Spray dangers
6:54pm Wednesday 2nd July 2008
I agree wholeheartedly with Tony Anchors's letter about the indiscriminate spraying of weedkillers by councils and the damage it causes to beautiful verges and wild flowers (Oxford Mail, June 19).

Don't buy a house by a river
6:53pm Wednesday 2nd July 2008
Some people have a nerve. Andy Webber (Oxford Mail, June 28) criticises the city council for giving rent rebates to allotment holders and asks why he and his fellow residents don't get the same for the flooding in Botley Road last year.
