The rain shows no sign of letting up with heavy, even thundery, showers forecast for this weekend.

The Met Office said Saturday will be unsettled and breezy with spells of rain sweeping in from the west throughout which will be thundery in places.

There might be a few bright spells breaking through in between spells of rain later in the day.

It will also be cool with a maximum temperature of 19C.

Sunday is looking better with patchy cloud, sunny spells, and a few isolated showers.

Any showers will clear later on with sunshine becoming widespread.

It will be a windy start but easing later.

Looking ahead, Monday will be largely dry with plenty of sunshine to start but it will turn increasingly cloudy later.

It will be rather cloudy into Tuesday with some light showers possible although a few sunny spells may break through at times.

Meanwhile, the first Met Office-named storm of the year is set to batter coastlines with gusts of up to 65mph disrupting travel and heavy rain posing a “danger to life”.

Storm Antoni could also bring winds of up to 50mph inland in parts of south Wales and southwest England, while heavy rains could flood homes and businesses in Northern Ireland.
