Former Harry Potter star Emma Watson has celebrated her 33rd birthday by revealing the influence of planet Saturn on her life.

The former Headington School pupil said she was 'well acquainted' with the astrological concept of 'Saturn return' which is when the planet is at the same celestial coordinates as an individual's birth.

The return, which takes about 30 years, supposedly aligns with the period when a person matures into adulthood.

Celebrating her birthday earlier this month, the actress wrote o Instagram: "This is 33. Holy moly. Before 29 I hadn't even heard of a Saturn return as a concept. Let's just say that now I am well acquainted."

She added: "I stepped away from my life. I learned to surf (badly), I rode some horses (that went better), I did a lot of therapy (YESS therapy!)... I adopted Sofia in Mexico, who seems to be an angel not a dog.

"We filmed the Harry Potter reunion. I said goodbye to my grandma and grandpa. I retraced my steps. I started a women's environmental investment fund."

She said she also 'cut my thumb nail off on both hands trying to cook for myself and then was only able to do things one handed for months' -and 'played golf and then tried to make all my girlfriends learn too.'

The actress, who played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies, added: "I burned some things down. I eat green things now!... I directed my first commercial."

Ms Watson most recently starred in a 2019 adaptation of Little Women, in which she played Meg March.

The 'Saturn return' happens for the first time when someone is approaching 30. It is seen as a coming of age moment, marking a shift into proper adulthood.

There was renewed interest in Saturn return in 2021 after singer Adele appeared to link the astrological concept to her divorce.

A reunion show, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts, was broadcast in January 2022.

The HBO special saw Ms Watson admit that she had a “crush” on co-star Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, and reunite with Daniel Radcliffe, who starred as Harry Potter, and Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley.

The stars filmed the fantasy films, based on JK Rowling’s books, from Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone, which came out in 2001, to 2011’s Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2.
