There was widespread traffic disruption caused by a vehicle fire on the A34 this morning.
The southbound carriageway was closed in both directions from the Chilton turn-off near Harwell to the M4 to allow the fire to be assessed and extinguished.
Police and the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service attended.
There were long delays in both directions.
The northbound carriageway was reopened at around 2.10pm.
Southbound remained closed for cleaning up and an inspection.
The southbound carriageway at Didcot eventually reopened at 2.30pm.
It resulted in severe delays in Wantage with disruption on the A417 and A338 due to earlier diverting traffic.
