A speeding BMW driver en route to see his girlfriend claimed ‘love made him do it’, traffic police said.
The eager boyfriend was caught driving at 102mph on the M40 between Stokenchurch and Lewknor on Easter Sunday.

Taking to social media, Thames Valley Police’s roads policing unit said: “The motorist stopped doing 102mph was driving to see his girlfriend and said love made him do it.”
The officers quoted the title of Meat Loaf’s 1993 rock anthem I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That), before adding a hypothetical question: “Speeding?”

Police were conducting speed checks on the M40 on Sunday morning. A small number of drivers were stopped issued tickets for speeding, undertaking at speed or not being in proper control of their vehicle.
