A CAR was in flames this morning on a motorway with fire crews battling to put it out.
Firefighters from Watlington, Wheatley and Thame tackled the blaze just before 9am on the M40 just prior to Junction 5 at Stokenchurch.

The driver of the car noticed smoke after it started to handle differently and pulled over and was able to move away safely.
Due to the heavy smoke, crews had to close the M40 southbound on arrival for around 45 minutes to allow the incident to be resolved safely.
Highways England traffic officers attended to support and manage the motorway whilst the fire was extinguished using breathing apparatus and hosereels.
