OXFORD United in the Community has launched its National Citizen Services [NCS] programmes for the summer.

These programmes help youngsters improve their leadership, teamwork and communication skills.

NCS is funded by the Government designed for teenagers aged 16 to 17 to help them establish a clear idea of what they want from their future via independent challenges, team activities and workshops.

This years programme will be delivered in partner with the English Football League trust.

Spaces on the residential and non-residential two and three week programmes are now open for applications.

It will take place in July and August with the majority of activities based at The Oxford Academy.

Last year, Oxford United's official charity worked with more than 20 young people to help deliver social action projects that would benefit local communities.

Aled Newton, NCS programme manager at Oxford United in the Community, said: “Following the clarity regarding the country’s roadmap out of the COVID-19 restrictions, we are pleased to be able to launch details of this summer’s NCS programmes.

“Last year, our summer and autumn programmes were a great success and those who took part created and developed some outstanding projects to benefit their community.

“NCS has never been as important as it is now to young people’s wellbeing. We are excited to provide them with the opportunity to learn and develop key skills whilst having some much-needed fun.”
