A further 657 people in England who tested positive for the coronavirus have died.

This brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 9,594.

The UK death toll has surpassed 10,000 and is now at 10,612.

Those who died were aged between 26 and 100 years old and 42 of the 657 people (aged between 30 and 98 years old) had no known underlying health condition.  

Their families have been informed.

Of the 657 new hospital deaths announced today by NHS England, 121 occurred on April 11 while 531 took place between April 1 and April 10.

The remaining five deaths occurred in March, with the earliest new death taking place on March 26.
