THE CLOSURE has been lifted after the earlier fire on the M40.
Queues were backing up on the southbound carriageway after the van caught fire about 6.30am.
It happened close to junction 6 for Watlington and had closed the exit slip road.
As a result traffic was backed up in the area and queues were back to Thame.
The road was reopened about midday after highway teams cleared the debri and diesel spill.
Further treatments to the fuel spillage have been successful following a van fire #M40 #Oxfordshire J6 #Watlington southbound exit slip road. The road surface is now safe and the slip road has been re-opened, many thanks to @tvprp and @OxonFireRescue for attending this. pic.twitter.com/ON5V0nJPCf
