DELAYS are easing after a lorry fire on the A34 near Oxford caused standstill queues.
All lanes have now reopened, according to the Highways England, with firefighters making the scene safe.
One lane on the northbound carraigeway was closed following the fire near Islip, from where queues of traffic stretched back to Wolvercote.

Highways England said there were still long delays but those were easing after the lorry's trailer became detached from the vehicle.

Traffic feeds reported that smoke started pouring out from the trailer.
One account of the incident on Twitter said it involved a tractor and the trailer unit had split in two, with one landing in the central barrier.
Extending trailer now in 2 Half's on a34 past Oxford heading towards M40. One half in central barriers and other half with tractor unit on side of road.

The lorry fire happened shortly after a lorry and van crashed elsewhere on the A34 near Oxford this morning, causing a lane closure.
Thames Travel said northbound traffic was at a standstill shortly before 11am, and its buses had to divert via Boars Hill.
Due to standstill traffic northbound on the A34, X2 and X32 services are diverting via Boar's Hill. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

One lane was blocked following the collision, which happened near the Hinksey Interchange, but it has since reopened and traffic along that stretch is back to normal.
Police attended the scene and tailbacks stretched to the Marcham Interchange in Abingdon.
