SCORES of Grand Prix cars that make up more than 30 years of Williams F1 history proved the perfect inspiration for school pupils.

The Formula One team hosted two open days over the summer to invite schoolchildren along to look through some of the team's top motors.

The Williams Conference Centre, in Grove near Wantage, is home to the largest private collection of Formula One cars in the world.

Children were able to head along Friday, as well as on Aug 10, to see more than 40 of the team's seminal race cars.

The collection charts the team's 40 years of motor racing history and includes a glimpse into the cars from years gone by as well as the technology behind them.

Williams HR director Nicola Salter said: "It was great to see enthusiastic young visitors at Williams over the summer holidays.

"Together we explored the science behind Formula One racing and the 16 world championships won during our 40-plus years of racing.

"Hopefully we have inspired future scientists, engineers, mechanics, technicians and business people among the 75 young people that visited us during our two open days this summer."

The Williams special heritage tour is open to anyone to book with dates remaining for October 13 and December 1.
