THE foundations have been laid and the steel frames are holding up the walls of the future classrooms which these youngsters will soon be visiting to investigate the surrounding 15-acre woodlands.
Geared-up in hard hats and high-vis jackets, pupils from Wood Farm Primary School headed to the grounds of Stansfeld Park to take a look at how work is progressing at the Science Oxford education centre set to open next year.
City construction company Beard Oxford is building the new centre which will be the 'first of its kind in the UK', and also invited pupils from three other schools – Bayard’s Hill Primary, St Andrews Primary and Windmill Primary – to the site on Quarry Road for a tour.
Manager of the new centre Mike Dennis said that on their return to school, each group would design an informative billboard about the project, and each one would then be displayed at the entrance to the site.
