DRIVERS heading towards Oxford on the M40 last night faced 'three miles' of queues due to a HGV fire.
The motorway was blocked northbound between junctions six and seven from around 9pm while emergency services dealt with the blaze.
Oxford taxi driver Kudrat Ali, had been returning home from dropping off a passenger at Heathrow airport when was stopped by the road closure.
The 37-year-old said: "Police arrived first and then fire engines and they blocked one entire side of the road."
"Everything was closed for 20-30 minutes and the queue must have stretched back three miles."
The Cowley Road resident added: "It was the first night of Ramadan and I ended up breaking it while waiting, which wasn't ideal."
According to Highways England all but one lane had reopened by 11pm.
