THE ‘artist’ who doctored road signs to show the way to Narnia, Middle Earth and other fictitious places said he only wanted to 'create something positive'.
Road signs were changed in Didcot to include famous fantastical places, including Gotham City and Neverland.
Speaking anonymously to BBC Radio Oxford, he said he had only ‘wanted to make people smile’.
He said: “I’m an artist. I’m not a vandal. I never intended to create any form of vandalism, purely a spectacle for people to remember. To destroy someone else’s property, that was never my intention. My intention was to create and build on something positive.”
An Oxford Mail poll found 88 per cent of readers want the signs to stay up, but the county council said it will take them down ‘when the weather improves’.
