AN engine fire on an Oxford Bus Company bus caused delays on London Road this afternoon.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said they attended reports of a vehicle fire at 3.21pm and found there had been a small fire in the engine compartment of a bus but it was already put out when they arrived.
Fire fighters left the scene at 3.52pm.
An Oxford Bus Company spokesman said: “We confirm there was a minor incident on Bus 614 today.
"Our in-built detection system identified an issue in the engine compartment and we removed the vehicle from service as a precaution.
"This resulted in a 15-minute delay to our service for which we apologise.”
Stagecoach warned it was experiencing delays of up to 25 minutes on the number 8 and 9 services as a result of the incident but traffic had returned to normal by 5.20pm.
