She greeted pupils who has assembled with flags outside the entrance to the school in Blackbird Leys, and stopped to chat on her way inside.
Among those in conversation with Kate, who is pregnant with her third child, was Diane Leach and her nine-month-old baby Tillie.
During her trip to Pegasus School, she heard more about the work of the charity Family Links.
The Duchess was shown how Family Links works with schools nationwide to support children and parents with their emotional health and wellbeing, with an emphasis on early intervention.

At Pegasus Primary School, Family Links builds emotional health support into children’s education, with their family supported through a range of workshops and activity sessions.
During the visit, The Duchess met parents to hear more about how their families have overcome challenges with the support of Family Links.
Her Royal Highness also joined a Year Two class during 'Circle Time', an activity session which encourages pupils to share their thoughts on a range of topics, including how to support a classmate if they are being bullied, or how to cope with a stressful situation.
