FIREFIGHTERS were called to Crawley, near Witney, this afternoon after a lorry burst into flames.
The incident took place in Dry Lane and saw the cab of the lorry completely destroyed by fire.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called just after 2.20pm and sent fire engines from Burford and Eynsham.
On arrival crews were confronted with a fire which had started to spread to nearby embankments, with oil running down the road towards the river.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus and hose reels tackled the blaze and stopped the oil from spreading further using equipment from the Environment Agency.
No-one was hurt in the incident and South Central Ambulance Service was not called.
The road has now re-opened.
