RESIDENTS left in the dark for more than a month have now been shown the light thanks to the Oxford Mail.
Three neighbouring roads in Charlton, Wantage lost power to their street lights on December 11 and residents reported it to the county council’s Fix My Street app.
But they were told it was not the council’s responsibility and it could take contractors SSE up to 60 days to sort the problem.
On Friday less than 24 hours after a story was published in the Oxford Mail workmen were spotted in the street and the lights came back on.
John Leake, who lives in Paddock Close and was affected by the blackout, said it was ‘odd’ the light came back on so quickly after it went in the press but was ‘very pleased’ with the outcome.
