Commuters heading east out of the city are being hit by long delays after a car fire on the Eastern By-Pass Road.

The road was blocked eastbound between the Heyford Hill and Littlemore roundabouts and one lane was closed between 3pm and 5pm.

All lanes have now re-opened and the car has been cleared but traffic remains bad across the city.

Recovery units were not able to arrive until 5pm and the incident caused severe delays to rush hour traffic.

Traffic is still queuing back as far as the Kennington roundabout. 

As a result Weirs Lane and Donnington Bridge Road are also slow along with Abingdon Road from Hinksey Park.
