NICOLA Blackwood has been made a minister in the Department of Health.
The Oxford West and Abingdon MP tweeted the news this morning, saying she was "delighted" to be handed the post of Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, her first ministerial role.
Miss Blackwood, who was first elected to Parliament in 2010, will be leaving her present role as chair of the House of Commons's Science and Tech Committee.
Delighted to be appointed as Minister in @DHgovuk. I'll miss superb @CommonsSTC team a lot but will keep fighting for science & innovation
