The charred skeleton of a lorry is all that is left after it caught fire yesterday.
Firefighters from Kidlington and Rewley Road were called to the A44 at Begbroke at 4.30pm and were faced with a serious fire in the back of the lorry.
As the vehicle was on the highway, the north-bound carriageway remained closed while the fire crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
Station Manager Brian Butler said: "This incident was quickly and safely resolved by the fire crews who then worked alongside Thames Valley Police to make it a priority to re-open the A44 as soon as practically possible."
