A CAR crashed into a building this morning and ruptured a gas pipe.
Frilford Road (the A415) was closed both ways, between the A338 Frilford Crossroads and Howard Cornish Road, but has since reopened.
At about 5am the car smashed through a mains pipe by the corner of Frilford Road near Church Street, prompting police to put up a 100 metre cordon.
There was no access through Marcham so traffic was diverted towards Shippon.
Engineers from SGN gas network have stopped the leak, and said they did not expect residents' gas supply to be affected.
David Gallagher, spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service, said an officer was called to the crash at 5.18am.
He said no-one was injured.
The fire service evacuated nearby houses as a safety precaution, but SGN said most residents had been allowed back inside.
