A CAR was completely destroyed after catching alight on the M40 near Bicester this morning.
Three fire engines - one from Bicester, one from Banbury and one from Oxford - and 15 firefighters raced to the scene between junctions nine and 10 southbound.
Mark Ames of Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was not clear how the fire started, but that nobody was hurt.
Crews were called to the scene at 9.50am. They had extinguised the fire and cleared the road by 10.36am. Two lanes of the M40 were closed while the fire was dealt with.
