STARS of Downton Abbey treated the residents of Bampton to a party as they wrapped up their final week of filming.
The cast said thank-you to locals in the award-winning ITV1 drama’s long-running film location.
Villagers were served drinks by Hugh Bonneville and other actors from the show on Wednesday night to show their appreciation.
The cast has been recording Downton Abbey scenes in the West Oxfordshire village for six years.
Locals took to Twitter to express their joy at partying with the cast of the successful ITV drama, sharing pictures of the get-together.
The British period drama, which first aired in September 2010, has won a number of awards, including a Golden Globe for Best Mini-series or TV Film.
The village has largely been used for filming outdoor scenes for the show set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate.
The old rectory in Bampton has been used for exterior shots of the house of character Isobel Crawley, while the library has depicted The Cottage Hospital in the show.
Earlier this year, producers announced the sixth series — being filmed at the moment — would be the show’s last.
