PARENTS have been advised to plan ahead for the return of the school run after the half-term holidays with work on Frideswide Square expected to cause delays.
Many children will return to school on Monday after a week off but even without school traffic on the road there has been heavy traffic in much of the city.
Oxfordshire County Council, which is responsible for the redevelopment of Frideswide Square, said the end of the half-term holidays would lead to more cars on the roads across the county.
County council cabinet member for transport David Nimmo Smith said: “We are reminding people that the schools are returning so they can plan their journeys. The network of park and ride sites around Oxford, or travelling outside of peak hours could help avoid congestion. It is also worth considering alternative modes of transport such as walking and cycling.”
