Botley Road is at a standstill again as the latest phase of roadworks at Frideswide Square causes traffic chaos.
The morning rush hour saw motorists face journeys of up to an hour along the route into Oxford as congestion built from the city centre.
The queues stemmed from Frideswide Square, where part of Hythe Bridge Street was shut as part of a £5.8m overhaul of the junction.
Traffic struggled to clear throughout the day and reports suggest the road is solid once again eastbound as people try to get home.
Queues are stretching from the junction with the A420 to St Giles in the city.
The redevelopment of Frideswide Square began in September 2014 and is expected to continue until December.
