A MAN was thown in the River Thames after being attacked by a gang of men in Oxford.
The victim, in his 20s, was set upon by the group of about six men at about 10.20pm in Butterwyke Place on Sunday.
He was then thrown in the river near Friars Wharf before a passer-by stopped to rescue him.
The man injured his head and was taken to hospital, where he was kept overnight, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
A 19-year-old man from Oxford has since been arrested and remains in custody.
Det Sgt David Whittle from Force CID in Oxford said: “I would be interested to hear from any person who may have witnessed the offence, particularly the passer-by who rescued the victim from the river. We are investigating this as a matter of urgency.”
