THE mother of murdered Jayden Parkinson said she hoped her daughter's memorial garden would be a place for the community.
As the sun shone down on Forget Me Not garden this morning, family and friends of Jayden gathered to officially open a garden made in memory of her.
Her mother Samantha Shrewsbury said it could help her cope with the loss of her daughter.
She added: "The garden is absolutely amazing, thank you everybody from the bottom of my heart.
"It's means a lot for the community. It's for kids young and old to come here and for there to be no barriers.
"I want older people to come and sit here and feel safe. For people that cannot get to where she is buried, they can come here and remember her."
Gardening company Aspire built the garden and head gardener Gez Porter said it has been an “emotional time” for him and his team.
Supergrass bassist Mick Quinn cut the ribbon at the garden’s gates and said it was an 'honour' to be a part of the day.
