An Oxford University student found dead below his open college room window has been remembered in tributes.
Kieran Keel, a second year student reading history and Spanish, was discovered at Brasenose College’s Frewin Annexe in St Michael’s Street in the early hours last Friday.
The 20-year-old who was part of the university American Football team was pronounced dead at the scene.
Henry Zeffman, president of the Junior Common Room, said: “Kieran was a widely-loved and greatly-admired member of our undergraduate community, whose absence will forever be sorely felt.”
A statement from the Oxford University Lancers American Football Club said: “His friendly confidence, winning smile, determination and desire to put the team before himself was an inspiration.”
An inquest into the death of Mr Keel, of Wicker Way, Emsworth, Hampshire, was opened and formally adjourned on Thursday.
Oxfordshire Coroner Darren Salter said: “His room was four or five storeys up.
“The window was open and Kieran was known to smoke out of the window.”
