A MAN has admitted today four firearms offences following a 12-hour stand-off with police in Kidlington.
Daniel Rodriguez, 38, has appeared at Oxford Crown Court and admitted possession of a firearm at the time of committing an offence on July 9, possession of an imitation firearm, use of a firearm with intent and making use of an imitation firearm with intent.
He denied false imprisonment and possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid and those charges will lie on file.
The charges relate to the siege in Kidlington in July that saw armed police called to a property in the village.
Rodriguez will be sentenced for the offences on December 5, as well as three other counts of rape and one of sexual assault.
Det Insp Steve Raffield, from Banbury CID, said: “We are pleased that Rodriguez has pleaded guilty to these crimes meaning those involved have been spared the trauma of a trial.
“The incident in July caused distress to not only the parties concerned but brought a lot of anxiety and disruption to the wider community.
“I want to thank all the officers involved that day and in the ensuing investigation for their hard work in bringing this offender to justice.”
- Thames Valley Police supplied us with a picture today saying it was Daniel Rodriguez that was published in good faith with this story. In fact it was a different man called Daniel Rodriguez-Lay, 32, and we wish to state categorically the image published earlier today was not of the defendant and apologise sincerely to Mr Rodriguez-Lay. The picture attached to this story now is the correct man.
