FOR most musicians the logical step before releasing an album is to release a single.
But The Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band are no ordinary band – and have released a cider instead.
About 250 fans attended a sold-out gig in the cellar at Oxford Castle’s Big Bang restaurant on Saturday to launch the Rabbit Foot Spasm Band Cider. The cider – produced by The Cotswold Cider Company – is on sale at the Grog Shop in Kingston Road, North Oxford, and Oxfork in Magdalen Road, East Oxford.
Stuart Macbeth, who leads the jazz-influenced band, said: “I can’t think of a better way to kick off 2013 than a cider launch in our hometown. We’ve got an new album out this summer – on vinyl – and instead of releasing a single to warm people up for it we decided to launch our own brand of cider. Even better it’s a cider, which like our music, is made in the Oxfordshire countryside – there’s a rural theme to the record.”
