Oxford United boss Darren Patterson has made his second capture of the summer after signing experienced left back Chris Carruthers.
The Kettering-born 24 year old made over 70 starts for Northampton after progressing through the youth system, and was selected for the England under 20s side before moving to Bristol Rovers in 2005 after a successful loan. He made well over 100 starts for the Gas.
Earlier in the week, Patterson signed former Northampton Town midfielder Joe Burnell.
"Chris is another great pro who has bags of experience considering his age," said Patterson.
"Like Joe Burnell he has chosen us over a number of league clubs and we are really excited to have him join."
Carruthers and fellow new signing Joe Burnell were due to be at the Fun Day today to meet the fans.

Wee Arrr wrote:Personally I don't think were too bad in defence really we have 2 left backs if you include Jeanin, 2 right backs and 3 half decent centre backs. I would prefer Wilmott and Foster really never been a big fan of Quinn bad captain too in my eyes and he keeps the defence far too deep for my liking.
A good signing, now for the rest.. Another defender, a creative midfielder, a winger, and two strikers+ Good luck Patto, the strikers are going to be the toughest -but hold the key to success imo.
