Murdered teen 'forced to drink petrol'

A 17-year-old originally from Banbury died after being made to drink petrol, pathologists believe.

The body of Simon Everitt, who was born in the town, was found in Mautby, Norfolk, last month, three weeks after he vanished from Great Yarmouth.

Last night police said they believed he had been tied to a tree, was made to drink petrol and been set on fire.

A post mortem examination showed he died as a result of inhaling combustible fluid.

His body had been buried in a ditch.

Three people, Jimi Lee Stewart, 24, Maria Chandler, 40, both of Great Yarmouth, and Jonathan Clarke, 19, of Telford, Shropshire, are due before Norwich Crown Court on July 14 charged with murder.

Simon was born in Banbury and grew up in Bishop Auckland, Durham. He and his father Vince moved to Great Yarmouth four years ago.

Swaying back and forth in unison to the riffs bouncing off their guitars, you know what to expect with Status Quo. Even if they have become a bit overused in the past 40 years, cliches have a golden core. For many bands, repeatedly playing their successful songs becomes a kind of purgatory ending in a refusal to even listen to their hit singles any more, let alone play them. But this five-piece never seem to tire of their best tracks, and their infectiously energetic live performance got their loyal middle-aged fans shaking the body parts they forgot they had.
